Fall 2008

The summer flew by, and the Fall is practically over. Mckenna is definitely keeping us busy. She is more than walking now - definitely running around alot. She is a quick little one. Love that she is forming simple sentences, repeating words you say to her and singing. So we found that Itsy Bitsy Spider is her favorite song so far, followed closely by Old McDonald. She hates being cold and gets cranky when she is hungry or tired....no idea where she gets that from. Our favorite sound is still her laugh. It's sweet and hearty all at the same time and is the sound of pure joy. There is nothing better! Work took me out of town for a few days and that was pretty hard. As much as I love to travel, I was just wishing she was with me to experience it all.

Before we know it, it will be Christmas. This Christmas is going to be awesome! Hope we can get some of the Christmast decorations down from deep within the attic. We really think she will be able to enjoy it this year and can't wait to put cookies and milk out for Santa and wake up with her on Christmas morning to open presents!

Hopefully, by early next year, we will have the house on the market. Since the wonderful addition of Mckenna, our house has gotten a whole lot smaller. Hopefully, by next summer, we'll be a new house...maybe with a pool, but definitely with more room.

Mckenna Loves the Water!

I was hoping MckG would love being in the pool - and she does! Here are some pictures from last weekend in the pool. She's definitely the coolest baby - gotta love the sunglasses!

Mckenna is a year old!!!

Our baby just turned 1 last week. I can't believe it. It's been a whole year since she was born. I have to admit, this past year has been one of the best years of my life. Mckenna Grace (MckG) is the best thing that has ever happened to us. Here are a few pictures from the party this weekend. Have you seen a cuter baby?!? I didn't think so.

Her birthday was pretty hard for me - Travis and I were with her at exactly 1:39pm when she was born, and I just couldn't stop crying. She is our little miracle, and I'm fortunate to be her mommy.

I feel guilty that Trav and I going on vacation with out her, but it helps to know that we could use this time together to reconnect. Our lives revolve around MckG and work, that we don't always take the time to appreciate each other as much. I can't wait for the sun, sand, and cold beverages, but miss MckG already. Mckenna is almost a year old!!!

Where has the time gone???

Mckenna has been growing so much - apart for a "few" ear infections, and colds - she is starting to crawl and is now starting to stand and "walk" around the coffee table - she is doing great. It's hard to believe that she is 11months old and it's been over a year that we have had this blog. I remember when I was just thinking about our little baby, and here she is about to turn 1. We are a little biased, but she is our sweet(est) baby girl. She is such a happy, wonderful baby and we love her sweet laugh. It's the BEST sound in the world. And I never thought that I would love to smell our baby's head - it's the best "smell" in the world. I don't know why I love it so much, but it's one of my many favorite things about Mckenna. Grandpa Herk ~ Wesley B. Merritt

It's been a month since Grandpa Herk passed away - but it seems like it was just a few days since we talked to him on the phone. After the flood on January, he was never the same. When we learned that he was diagnosed with lung cancer, then his hip started hurting him. It seemed like he just could not catch a break. It was all to much. On April 1, 2008, Wesley B. Merritt passed away. His humor and love is very much missed and we are sad that Mckenna will never know how funny her great grandpa was. Thankfully, her father is almost as funny as his Grandpa. He is with his beloved Pat, and we know that they know how much we miss them both.

A VERY Mckenna Christmas!

It's Mckenna's first Christmas - being only 6 months+, we know that she can't really open any gifts yet. (although I'm sure that she will LOVE the excer-saucer Aunt Shannan and Grandma got her) But it is still a very special time for all of us. She is starting to sit up on her own and laughing. Boy is she laughing - it is the sweetest sound in the world. We can not get enough of it. We wish everyone a very Merry Christmas, and hope you have a wonderful New Year.

Happy Halloween!!!

My apologies for taking so long to post an update. I've started a new job :) - thank goodness - and everyone is busy. Travis and I have jobs we really like now - which makes leaving our bundle of love a little more bearable. Speaking of, Mckenna-bee is growing so fast! We thank each day we get a chance to kiss those sweet, sweet cheeks of hers.
